CEN/ISSS Workshop on 'Information System for Disaster and Emergency Management' - WS/ISDEM
Background
The aim of the new CEN Workshop CEN/ISSS WS/ISDEM is to provide the market with the technical tools that are required for the open operation of the advanced systems deployed in disaster and emergency management.
In the context of civil protection and societal security, emergency and disaster operations require numbers of different agencies to work jointly in the field of civil protection. A minimum level of interoperability is needed, to exchange information in the context of operations which imply disturbed environments and the need for multiple agencies to collaborate under these conditions.
The Workshop will prepare two CWAs, on the basis of two draft specifications originated by an Integrated Project under the EU IST programme, 'OASIS – Open Advanced System for Disaster and Emergency'.
-
The first CWA is related to an open format based on an XML schema for exchanging data between several operational agencies or units working jointly in an crisis/emergency situation.
-
The second CWA is the related data dictionary
Both specifications are intended to be used jointly as the key-stone for the interoperability of information systems in field conditions. They are expected to be eventually submitted to ISO as a contribution to the international work plan for Societal Security standardization (ISO/TC 223).
The final document was on our web-site for comments for two months until 24 October 2008 and now the text is in the editing process. The final CEN Workshop agreement will be published soon.
